A string of surveys on both sides of the Atlantic has pointed to privacy concerns as being one of the main reasons why many people decline to undertake ecommerce.
This, combined with a number of recent high-profile policy U-turns from various online organisations, has led to worries about the apparent lack of control over who is using our data and when. This is exacerbated by the fact that most websites are currently based in the US and are therefore subject to US data protection legislation which is much looser than equivalent European laws.
