Some of the world's best programmers and computer experts are gathering in Boston for the biannual LinuxWorld Expo.
Nicholas Negroponte, one of the fathers of the internet and recent Google convert, will be leading off the three-day conference and exhibition, which will showcase the best new ideas in the open source world as well as new developments in existing software.
Around 10,000 visitors are expected during LinuxWorld Expo's first Boston visit and the focus is expected to be the move of Linux onto the desktop and out of the world of high performance computing.
Legal issues are also on the minds of some visitors, with the winding up of the SCO challenges and a minefield of intellectual property for developers to negotiate.
